PAGENAUD QUICKEST FOR DE FERRAN IN WARMUP
de Ferran duo still stretching their legs at Road AmericaSimon Pagenaud went quickest in Sunday morning’s warmup for the Time Warner Cable Road Race Showcase and continued de Ferran Motorsports’ weekend dominance at Road America. The young Frenchman turned a best lap of 1:51.358 (130.864 mph) in the de Ferran XM Acura ARX-02a. Teammate and team boss Gil de Ferran qualified on pole position Saturday.
Pagenaud was 0.722 seconds faster than Jon Field in Intersport Racing’s AER-powered Lola B06/10.
Luis Diaz went quickest in LMP2 for Lowe’s Fernandez Racing in the team’s Acura ARX-01b. His lap of 1:53.322 (128.596 mph) in the car that he will drive with Adrian Fernandez was nearly a full second quicker than Team Cytosport’s Porsche RS Spyder of Klaus Graf.
Just as they did in qualifying, BMW Rahal Letterman Racing’s two BMW M3s were quickest in the warmup. Tommy Milner’s time of 2:08.220 (113.655 mph) was good enough for a 0.187 seconds better than Bill Auberlen in the car Joey Hand put on pole position Saturday.
Martin Snow was the quickest of the Challenge class with a lap of 2:18.025 (105.992 mph) in the Snow Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car that he has won two of three races with wife Melanie. Bob Faieta was 0.642 seconds adrift for Gruppe Orange.
